Information about the designer

Uno Åhren (1897-1977) was a Swedish architect, designer and writer. In the twenties and early thirties he created interiors for several of the most important exhibitions, including the Paris exhibition 1925 and the Stockholm exhibition 1930.

Uno Åhren was a radical architect and an early and important introductor of functionalism in Sweden. He was one of the co-writers of the text “Acceptera” which worked as a manifest of the functionalist movement. During the years 1927-1931 he worked as a designer for Firma Svenskt Tenn where he designed luxurious furniture and pewter objects. Later in his career he mainly worked as an architect in urban planning.
